Eden R. Sarver I am a U.S. Army veteran of Desert Shield/Desert Storm.
I am a lifelong Columbus resident. I had to work multiple jobs at a time to get myself through under grad at Columbus State Community College and Franklin University as well as throughout Capital University Law School. My son turned 2 years old the first winter I was in law school, and as single working mom, if I did not have the full support of my mom and all of her help I could never had done it.
My husband and I have two teenagers between us with four animals, all of which I love and cherish. In our spare time my husband and I work on our 1928 house and have since the day we bought it. We have learned a lot in the process. First lesson don't buy a 1928 house, second lesson they need work on even the basics such as electric, insulation, windows and doors, third lesson everything is custom!!!
Had someone ever told me I was going to be a bankruptcy attorney I would have never believed them. I majored in Human Resource Management and Business Management with accounting in the background. I thought that I was going to be a corporate attorney, what I found out was that I am not the corporate type. I enjoy meeting and talking with my clients. I do not look at my position by how fast and how much can I make, but rather I truly enjoy what I do and want to help them.
Now that I am working for myself, I don't have to worry about filing a certain number of cases. If we need to work through a few things like modifying mortgages, looking at what to do about a car, getting all required taxes filed prior to filing a case, I don't view that as a problem; rather those are things that will put the client in a better position when they do file.
If bankruptcy does not look like the right option, then I try to direct people to someone that may be able to help them. I can honestly say that this is one position where I make someone's life better. I stop the harassment, garnishments, letters and phone calls. I offer an option that allows people to get back on their feet again, to get a decent night's sleep, to be able to work normal hours without juggling two jobs to pay old bills. I offer an option that allows them to spend time with their family without worry and with the knowledge that there is a light at the end of the tunnel.
